The examination will consist of two (2) papers (113/1 Geography 1 and 113/2 Geography 2) of three (3) hours’ duration each. An additional of 10 minutes will be provided for each examination hour for candidates with special needs. Each paper will consist of sections A and B with a total of seven (7) questions, of which candidates will be required to answer five (5) questions in each paper.
Section A will consist of four (4) short answer questions. Candidates will be required to answer all the questions in this section. Each question will carry 15 marks making a total of 60 marks in this section.
Section B will have three (3) essay questions. Candidates will be required to answer two (2) questions. Each question will carry 20 marks. This section will carry a total of 40 marks. Each paper will weigh 100 marks.

The candidates will be assessed in the following competencies:
Geography 1: Physical Geography
- Demonstrate mastery of structure of the earth.
- Demonstrate an advanced understanding of concepts and theories explaining the structure of the earth and
- Demonstrate an understanding of the forces responsible for formation of the major relief features of the earth.
- Demonstrate an understanding of rocks and the rock cycle.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the basics of hydrology and the hydrological cycle.
Geography 2: Practical Geography
- Demonstrate mastery of skills and techniques in Geography.
- Demonstrate mastery of some advanced skills in land survey.
- Demonstrate mastery of research skills in Geography.
- Interpret maps and photographs.
